Join us for a four-day nature adventure exploring the beautiful landscapes of Lake Koitere and Patvinsuo National Park in eastern Finland.
Discover Koitere, a hidden gem known for its clear waters and peaceful surroundings — the perfect place to escape everyday life. We stay in a cosy wilderness cabin right by the lake and enjoy the gentle warmth of a traditional wood-fired sauna at the end of each day. There is no need to camp in tents; comfortable accommodation is ready and waiting for us.
One day, we head out on a hiking adventure in Patvinsuo National Park, where we walk through vast open bogs and peaceful forests. Patvinsuo captivates visitors with its silence, rugged beauty and ever-changing scenery, where wetlands, lakes and pine forests blend into one another.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival and an evening hike
We travel by train to Joensuu and continue by private transfer to our accommodation. In the evening, we enjoy a short hike of approximately 5 km in Patvinsuo National Park.
Day 2 – A full day of kayaking on Lake Koitere
We spend the day exploring Koitere by kayak, paddling approximately 25 km through its clear waters and beautiful lake scenery.
Day 3 – Hiking in Patvinsuo National Park
Today is dedicated to a longer hike of approximately 20 km through Patvinsuo's open boglands, forests and scenic trails.
Day 4 – A final kayaking adventure
We head out for one last kayaking trip on Lake Koitere, covering approximately 12 km. Around 3:00 PM, we begin our journey home.
Easy travel by train. Getting here is straightforward by train, and private transfers are arranged from Joensuu directly to our accommodation and to the starting points of our activities.
Example itinerary from Helsinki:
Outbound journey: Depart Helsinki at 10:14 AM and arrive in Joensuu at 2:51 PM. Transfer to the accommodation: Approximately 1.5 hours by private transport. Return journey: Depart Joensuu at 6:10 PM and arrive in Helsinki at 10:45 PM.
Train times are provided as an example and should be confirmed closer to the departure date.
Accommodation
We stay in a welcoming wilderness cabin with its own lakeside sauna. The accommodation is simple yet comfortable, offering an authentic Finnish wilderness experience. Facilities include a well-equipped kitchen, an outdoor toilet and a peaceful location far from the noise of everyday life. Participants share rooms with 2 - 3 people per room. Please bring your own bed linen and towel.
