EPP 2 – Develop your Sea Kayaking Skills. 3 June 2027 (evening session) and 6 June 2027 (full-day kayaking trip)

Build on your existing skills and gain confidence on the water.

This course combines one evening session with a full day of kayaking. The full day on the water gives us time to develop paddling skills, focus on route planning and navigation, and put our knowledge into practice in real conditions.

The EPP 2 course is designed for kayakers who have completed EPP 1 or already possess the fundamental skills of kayaking. You will deepen your knowledge and learn to paddle more efficiently and safely in a variety of conditions, including stronger winds and waves.

Course Content

  • During the course, we will practise and develop skills in the following areas:

  • Improving paddling techniques: steering, edging, and moving sideways.

  • Kayak control and balance: handling your kayak confidently in more challenging conditions.

  • Rescue techniques: self-rescue and assisted rescues with a paddling partner.

  • Weather awareness: assessing conditions and understanding how they affect kayaking.

  • Route planning and navigation: planning a suitable route and navigating safely on the water.

  • The course combines theory with practical on-water training. Our aim is for you to finish the course feeling more confident, with improved kayak control and the ability to paddle smoothly and safely in changing conditions.

  • Successful completion of the course corresponds to the EPP 2 skill level of the Finnish Canoeing and Rowing Federation.
